I'd like an internet kiosk in all the villages in Bangladesh. In these kiosks, people from all walk of life will come basically to gain information. With internet, I know what a amount of information can be gleaned with only a few keyboard strokes. I want our villagers to avail that opportunity too. But that that will have to be primarily in Bangla. So, a lot of web contents will have to be in Bangla. Or at least and conversion website can do it to make it easy for them. They will come to this kisoks for health, crop diversity, medical information etc. They will also know the day to day affairs from the internet. the opportunities to know will be endless. This will improve the villagers quality of life. Now how to do it? A client server network of pc's will have to be manned by one or two tech savvy youth from the respective villages. the electricy may be prvided from the solar panels where national grid is absent. Who will finance the pcs? That is easy. If we all contribute to this cause, pc's will not be a problem. a lot of pcs in the western world get redundant every month, and they give it away to the charitable causes. If we can get some funding or donations to set up a few centers. Then the villages will quickly catch up and then there'll be no stopping indeed.
